(hd) From April 7 to 13, 2025, the police carried out priority checks across Europe to combat speeding. The police in the Herford district also took part in the "RoadPol-Week Speed" campaign to increase road safety. The police in the Wittekindskreis district carried out a total of 8,657 speed measurements as part of the priority checks. A total of 291 speeding violations were detected and punished. The measuring points were set up in particular at locations that had previously been reported by citizens due to subjectively perceived speeding violations. The police in the Herford district are particularly keen to investigate such reports in order to be able to initiate targeted checks. Speeding violations are one of the main causes of traffic accidents with serious consequences. The police will therefore continue to implement preventive and repressive measures in the future in order to increase road safety and prevent traffic accidents.
