There has been a generational change in recruitment at Heinsberg police: Eric Dohmen is handing over the baton to Julia Karzell.
Eric Dohmen can look back on over 30 years of service experience and was responsible for junior staff at Heinsberg police for around ten years. He is now moving internally to another area of responsibility. His successor, Chief Superintendent Julia Karzell, is 34 years old and has been with the authority since 2013. She has worked in the patrol service, in the emergency unit and most recently in the criminal investigation department.
At Recruitment, she is now responsible for recruiting young talent, coordinating work experience for school pupils and supervising trainee inspectors during the practical part of their training. She wants to use her own experience to give interested pupils and potential applicants a realistic picture of the police profession.
Julia Karzell acts as a contact person on the way to "TEAM 110" and during the dual study program. She can be contacted at personalwerbung.heinsberg [at] polizei.nrw.de (personalwerbung[dot]heinsberg[at]polizei[dot]nrw[dot]de) or 02452 9207222 for all questions relating to the police profession or for personal advice.
As part of the dual study program, it has recently become possible to choose not only the traditional focus on operations, but also the focus on investigations and thus enter directly into the criminal investigation department. Applications for both are possible all year round. The application deadline for the start of the course on 01.09.2026 is 08.10.2025.
In addition, the NRW police offer the "Fachoberschule Polizei" course, which also enables students with a secondary school leaving certificate to become a police commissioner.
