The mayor of the town of Beckum Michael Gerdhenrich, the mayor of the town of Oelde Karin Rodeheger, our district administrator and head of the authorities Dr. Olaf Gericke and the mayor of the town of Ahlen Dr. Alexander Berger signed the contract, thus further intensifying the cooperation between the police and the youth welfare offices.
What does getting your act together mean?
The target group includes children and young people between the ages of 8 and 15 who have been found guilty of unlawful acts of violence or property crimes. In individual cases, admission up to the age of 17 is also possible. The Kurve kriegen team (employees from Caritas, SKM and the police) has been working since the beginning to screen potential participants using data and a specially developed program.
Once children and young people who fit into the program have been found, the police make personal contact with the respective guardians and present the contents of the initiative. If the police are interested in the initiative after the initial exchange of information, a second meeting is held with the responsible educational specialists to discuss the content framework and the further course of action in Kurve kriegen together.
If it is unanimously agreed after this second meeting to start the program together,
admission to the program begins.
